Singapore

Singapore, officially the Republic of Singapore, is an island city-state off the southern tip of the Malay Peninsula, 137 Kilometers north of the equator, south of the Malaysian state of Johor and of Indonesia's Riau Islands. Sometimes referred to as the "little red dot".

Singapore, has a diverse populace of 5 million people made up of Chinese, Malay, Indian, Asians and Caucasians of various ethnic origins, coming together as a society and living in harmony. English is the main language of instruction, followed by Mandarin (Chinese), Malay & Tamil.

Many people marvel at the beauty of Singapore and her progressiveness. Most impressive to note is that she was formerly just a humble fishing village, inhabited by an indigenous settlement.

Singapore is the world's fourth leading financial centre and its economy is often ranked among the world's top ten most open, competitive and innovative. The country is also a highly cosmopolitan world city, with a key role in international trade and finance.

Singapore is jam-packed with lots of exciting things to do. Apart from the much awaited opening of Resorts World Sentosa, Universal Studios, Marina Bay Sands in 2010, there are notable annual events like the Chingay Parade, Mosaic Music Festival, Fl Singapore Grand Prix, Arts Festival, Singapore Film Festival and many more that run thru the year. The annual Great Singapore Sale held in June is another event that is popular with both locals & tourists.
